As the season of giving thanks approaches, we’re reminded of the power of gratitude and how it can transform our health in more ways than we might realize. You see, practicing gratitude doesn’t just make us feel good in the moment—it can have profound effects on our overall well-being!

Gratitude:
  • Reduces Stress & Anxiety: Did you know that expressing thankfulness can lower cortisol levels (our stress hormone) and increase serotonin (our happy hormone)? Taking a moment to appreciate the little things can truly create a ripple effect on your mental health.
  • Improves Health: Gratitude helps calm the nervous system, reducing the risk of heart disease and hypertension. So, even something as simple as a daily gratitude journal can help keep your ticker happy.
  • Better Sleep, Anyone? Grateful people tend to sleep better. Focusing on the positive can help quiet the mind and promote a more restful night’s sleep. Who couldn’t use a bit more of that?

A Challenge for You: Take a few minutes each day to write down three things you’re grateful for. They don’t have to be big—think warm cups of coffee, sunny days, or a friendly smile. Notice how your mood shifts and how your body feels lighter!

Here at Back In Health Wellness Center, we’re grateful for YOU! Our community of amazing patients inspires us daily. As we approach the holiday season, let’s all make an effort to spread gratitude and kindness, and in turn, improve our health together.

Wishing you health and gratitude,
